DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

Ok, this might be a little extreme, but there are some less-than-desirable limousine operators in our city.  We are constantly getting calls from individuals that have booked another service and have either been stood up, have been provided a vehicle that is not what they booked, or have simply been very disappointed in the company that they entrusted for their special event.  Don't get us wrong, there are some excellent companies out there as well, with some very beautiful limousines, but we would like to provide you with some information so you don't wind up with a "lemon".

Listed below is a list of things to be aware of when booking a limousine company.  Even if you don't book our service, we do want you to have a good limousine experience.

Go and meet them.  If your event is truly special, and will be remembered for the rest of your life (such as your wedding day) take the time and visit with the company before you give them your deposit.  Visit with the manager and see how (and where) they run their business.  Ask to see the vehicle that they will provide for you on the day of your event.

Pay attention to the price.  If you're calling around, you will have a general idea on what the going rate is for limousine service.  If there is a company or two that is drastically lower than the rest, that should send up a red flag.  WHY is their price so low?  Are they providing you with a vehicle that is 14 years old?  Our prices are about the average for our market.  There are companies that are more expensive than us and there are companies that are cheaper than us.

Are they legal?  All transportation companies that haul passengers for hire, must be registered with the city of San Antonio.  This applies to cab companies, tour companies, and even horse-drawn carriages.  The way to check this is to look for the City of San Antonio Ground Transportation permit on the right side of the front windshield.  In the picture on the right, the ground transportation sticker is the lower permit, and the one above it is an airport permit which is additionally required for vehicles that pick up and drop off at the airport.  This is also an added protection for you, as all chauffeurs of legitimate companies must possess a city chauffeur's license.  An intense FBI background check is completed, along with a check for outstanding warrants, and the individual is fingerprinted.  They also undergo a physical examination and a drug test.  You can also call the Ground Transportation office to check on a company, 210-207-7379.

What is their backup plan?  So what would happen if the vehicle that was assigned to you was to break down or involved in an accident?  It is unfeasible for a limousine company to have a whole other limousine just sitting there, not booked, IF something should happen.  So what will they do?  This is a good question to ask because HOW it is answered will help you build confidence in that company.

How long have they been in business?  An established company that has been around the block a couple of times (pun intended) is best suited to handle situations that arise.  Also, if they've been in business for more than a year or two, then they will most likely still be around 10 months from now if you are booking your limousine several months in advance.

How will the chauffeur be dressed?  Verify with the company how their chauffeurs are dressed and ask if there is any variance with their policy.  If your chauffeur will wear an hawaiian shirt or powder blue suit, it's best that you know that ahead of time.

Are they providing you with a contract?  Any reputable business will provide you all of the details in writing, often referred to as a reservation or trip sheet.  This form should list all of the pertinent information including date, pickup time, and total fees.  This form should also state the exact vehicle you are booking, what their cancellation policy is, what is not permitted in the limousine, and how you can pay your balance.
